Thanks to our sponsors we do not charge any entry fees for the Ireland eGovernment Awards. We know entry fees are prohibitive for many public sector organisations. We welcome as many entries as you wish to make. The Awards are a showcase. Make sure your work gets recognised. No entry fee means there’s zero risk in taking part.

Details of the 2024 Ireland eGovernment Award categories. It is free to enter and you are free to enter multiple categories.

Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology Award

This award recognises entries which showcase initiatives that leverage technology to reduce carbon footprint, conserve resources, and promote eco-friendly practices.

Smart Cities and Urban Development Award

The eGovernment Smart Cities and Urban Development Award recognises projects that demonstrate innovation, sustainability, and citizen-centric design.

Data Protection Award

The eGovernment Data Protection Award recognises projects that prioritize compliance with GDPR (or similar) regulations, robust encryption methods, and secure data storage practices.

Cyber Security Award

The eGovernment Cybersecurity Award recognises projects that prioritize robustness, resilience, and proactive defense measures.

Cross-organisation Collaboration Award

This category recognises the use of digital technology to enhance or promote cross-organization collaboration in the public sector, judges prioritize synergy, interoperability, and impact.

Universal Design & Inclusion Award

This award is for “Design so thoughtful it works for everyone”.

Multi-lingual and Internationalisation Award

This award will be made to digital initiatives that prioritize inclusivity, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity.

Education Award

When evaluating digital education solutions within the public sector judges prioritize entries that demonstrate innovative use of technology to enhance learning experiences, improve educational outcomes, and address the needs of diverse learners.

General Award

This general category is open to any government-funded service across the island of Ireland that, through the use of the digital solutions, improves the efficiency, customer service, reputation, experience or overall standing of Ireland either at home or internationally.

Open Data Award

When judging the Open Data category within the public sector our judges are looking for initiatives that demonstrate comprehensive data accessibility, usability, and societal impact.

AI & Governance Award

For the AI and Governance category the judges are looking for projects that exemplify the transformative potential of AI in enhancing governance, promoting innovation, and improving outcomes for citizens, while upholding principles of transparency, accountability, and ethical responsibility.

Promoting Ireland Overseas Award

This category is open to those organisations whose use of the web promotes the island of Ireland to encourage investment, trade, tourism, international relations, education, peace and cross-border cooperation.

Marketing & Social Media Award

This category is open to State funded organisations across the island of Ireland that demonstrate excellence in the marketing and/or in the use of social media.

Local Government Award

When assessing local government digital solutions judges prioritize efficiency, accessibility, and citizen engagement.

Health or Telemedicine Award

When assessing Healthcare or telemedicine initiatives judges prioritise projects that demonstrate accessibility, effectiveness, and equity in healthcare delivery.

Overall Winner Ireland eGovernment Award

The Ireland eGovernment Awards Overall Winner is selected from all finalist entries. The winner will be the project with the greatest overall impact in terms of the numbers of citizens or public services it positively affects across the island of Ireland. Alternatively it may be a project that contributes to Ireland’s participation or reputation across the world.
