Universal Design Award

This award recognises excellence in design “so thoughtful it works for everyone”. It recognises public digital services that go beyond minimal compliance with mandatory accessibility standards, strive to understand the needs of users and provide a service that is easy to access, understand and use for the widest range of people possible.

Judges are looking for:

  • How was accessibility built into the design from the start?
  • Who benefits from this approach (specific user groups)?
  • How does it go beyond minimum compliance?
  • What evidence shows improved usability for all users?

Judges reward clear evidence, not claims. Use data, examples and results wherever possible.

Open to any government-funded service across the island of Ireland.

This award is supported by the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design and the NDA. The award will be judged from ALL entries who answer the Universal Design question when completing the simple entry form.
